My 9 y/o is turning 10 this week and requested a purple decorated birthday cake. After combing through some photos online and visiting a few bakeries, I decided to bake the cake myself. This is the practice cake before I attempt the actual birthday cake.
I used a vanilla sponge, raspberry preserves as filling and whipped cream. I colored the whipped cream different shades of purple and piped ribbons around the cake. I tried a different color for each ribbon and I like the ombre effect but for the actual cake I'll stick with just 3 shades of purple.
